Welcome to The Hygge Apothecary
A place to gather gentle remedies for Christ-centered homes, slow living, and whole mind-and-body nourishment.
Our Mission Statement:
At The Hygge Apothecary, we offer soul-soothing remedies for Christ-centered homes—helping families grow in faith, virtue, and whole living. Through nourishing meals, natural elixirs, gentle rhythms, and intentional learning, we cultivate a home where minds are nurtured, bodies are nourished and healed, and souls are rooted in Christ. We believe that Christ is the bread of life and the home is the heart of formation—where everyday life becomes sacred and simple things bring lasting restoration.
How it Started:
The Hygge Apothecary was founded by Jenn Studer and Leslie Key in 2025 as a way to bring God-given life and joy back to families in today’s fast-paced world. During their own homeschool journey’s Jennifer and Leslie realized how fast-paced and lonely their lives had become. However, they discovered that many parents—including themselves at one time—had no idea how to begin embracing a faith-filled, slower-paced lifestyle that could bless their families and others for generations.
In Acts 2:42-47, we read about God’s design for his people and his church. In this fast paced world and island-like culture we have gotten so far away from the community we were designed for.
Determined to change that, Leslie and Jenn set out to educate themselves and cultivate that kind of intentional life for their own families. From this pursuit, The Hygge Apothecary blog and podcast were born.
Jenn and Leslie are passionate about raising children in God’s Word, cultivating a Christ-centered home culture that values hospitality, providing holistic education that nurtures the whole child, and sharing wholesome recipes and natural remedies to support the growing minds and bodies of families.

Meet Jenn
Hi there!
I'm Jenn — a retired teacher turned homeschool mama to two wonderful kids, a boy and a girl, and a proud wife to my amazing, God-fearing husband.
I was blessed to grow up in a big, close-knit family full of siblings, cousins, aunts, and uncles. My childhood was deeply shaped by Christ and community. My mom worked tirelessly to build a home rooted in love, hospitality, and virtue — living out the spirit of Acts 2:42 every single day.
When my husband’s career led us to move 1,100 miles away from everything I’d ever known, I entered a season of unexpected loneliness. As our little family grew, so did the ache for home — for familiar faces, family dinners, and that sense of belonging I had always cherished. I became resentful and closed off to our new life, longing deeply for the comfort of community.
In my desperation, I finally brought my sorrow and longing before the Lord. And in that still, quiet moment, I felt Him whisper, "Make it here."
So I did.
I started looking outward and realized I wasn’t alone. So many women around me were yearning for connection too — all of us quietly wishing our “village” would just show up.
Then came Leslie. I was actually her son’s teacher once, and after I retired, she reached out (I’ll let her share that beautiful story). As we reconnected, it became clear that our hearts beat for the same things. It was nothing short of a God-ordained friendship.
Together, we started The Hygge Apothecary as a way to reach women who feel the same loneliness and longing we once felt. Because the truth is — God designed us for community. And in a world more digitally connected than ever, many of us have never felt more alone.
It’s time we start building the villages we’re all longing for.
Meet Leslie
Hi, I’m Leslie. If we were sitting together right now, I’d hand you a cup of coffee or hot chocolate while I sip my chai, and we’d just talk like old friends. That’s how I hope my words always feel—like a cozy, safe space to connect.

By day, I’m a mortgage lender. By night (and mornings and middays), I’m a homeschooling single mom raising two boys. Life is full, but it’s also beautifully full of God’s grace. I’m a first-generation believer, and when my parents and I all gave our lives to Jesus on the same day when I was seventeen, it turned everything upside down—and right-side up. Before that, I grew up in a loving but broken home, trying to please everyone while running on empty. Meeting Jesus changed all of that, and slowly He’s been teaching me what it means to really live, love, and belong.
Community became my lifeline. A start-up church family taught me to love God and love people in practical ways—like picking up the phone, writing notes, or being brave enough to have the hard but healthy conversations. Later, living as a missionary in India deepened my heart for hospitality and connection, reminding me of the kind of fellowship you read about in Scripture.
Returning home as a single mom, I sometimes felt like my boys only had “half of a family.” But God kept showing me that family is so much bigger than DNA. Our church and community became our extended family—teaching my boys to ride bikes, play sports, and grow in faith. And when God called me to homeschool (something I never imagined doing while working full time!), He surrounded me with the right people at the right seasons—friends like Jenn, who have become more like sisters.
Together, Jenn and I share a vision for intentional living—raising our kids with biblical foundations, pulling away from the noise of culture, and creating a hygge lifestyle rooted in connection, faith, and family. We don’t come from the same background, but that’s the beauty of unity without uniformity. We learn from each other, we laugh and cry together, and we invite you to join us in this journey.
So welcome—pull up a chair, grab a warm drink, and make yourself at home with us at Hygge Apothecary.
